On August 22^nd, "The Inaugural Meeting of the Southern Alliance for International Chinese Education and the first Southern Forum for International Chinese Education" was held in South China Normal University. Wang Yong, director of the development planning office of the Chinese-foreign Language Exchanges and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education, and Li Jinjun, director of the Exchanges and Cooperation Office of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province attended the meeting and delivered speeches. More than 200 experts, scholars, teachers, students and personnel from relevant institutions from China Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao jointly participated in the meeting offline or online. As one of the preliminary ten initiators of the Southern Alliance for International Chinese Education, Lu Yan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and director of the Language Committee of GZCCC, led a team to attend the conference.

The conference discussed and voted on the Charter of the Southern Alliance for International Chinese Language Education (Draft) and the list of the first SAICE’s chairman unit, vice chairman units, standing director units and director units; discussed and voted on the list of consultants, chairman, vice chairmen, executive directors, directors, secretary general and deputy secretary general of the first SAICE. GZCCC was elected as the vice chairman unit, Lu Yan was elected as the vice chairman, Chen Nan, director of the foreign affairs office of GZCCC, and Xu Guoli, deputy director of the Language Committee of GZCCC, were elected as the standing director and director respectively.

At the forum, 20 experts and professors from universities in Beijing, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hainan, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao delivered speeches offline or online on the theme of "Sustainable Development of International Chinese Education under the Global Development Initiative". As the only representative of vocational college, Lu Yan gave a report entitled "Thinking on the Path of promoting the ‘Going-out’ Coordinated Development of International Chinese Education and Vocational Education", which focused on five aspects, including giving full play to the function of the comprehensive platform of Confucius Institutes and strengthening the construction of the standard system, and expounded the thinking on promoting International Chinese Education and vocational education to "go global". The views were widely resonated by the participants.

It is reported that the Southern Alliance for International Chinese Education, proposed by the School of Southeast Asia Chinese Teacher Education of South China Normal University and in cooperation with the School of Humanities of Guangzhou University, the School of Chinese literature of Jinan University, the School of Humanities of Shenzhen University, the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Sun Yat-Sen University, the International College of Macao University of Science and Technology, the School of Chinese Language and Culture of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, the Department of Chinese Linguistics of the School of Humanities of the Education University of Hong Kong, the School of Education of the University of Macao, and Guangzhou City Construction College, is composed of 36 colleges and institutions, aiming to better promote the high-quality and sustainable development of international Chinese education and give play to the exemplary and leading role of southern China in the field of international Chinese education.
